Integration of Halal Industry with Religious Tourism Sector in Central Java
Abstract
This research examines the integration of the halal industry with the religious tourism sector in Central Java as a strategy for regional economic development. The background of this study is based on the significant potential of Central Java in the halal industry and religious tourism, which has not yet been optimally utilized, as well as the need to develop a comprehensive approach to enhance regional competitiveness. This study aims to analyze how integrating these two sectors can increase tourist attraction, strengthen the local economic ecosystem, and boost regional income. The method used in this research is a literature study, with data collected through a review of various relevant literature sources, including academic journals, government reports, and industry publications. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively to identify patterns, relationships, and implications of integrating the halal industry and religious tourism. The study results indicate that combining the halal industry with the religious tourism sector in Central Java has significant potential to increase the number of tourists, particularly from the domestic and international Muslim tourist segments. This synergy also contributes to the increased income of local SMEs in culinary, handicrafts, and halal accommodation services. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of local government support in developing policies and infrastructure that support the integration of the halal industry and religious tourism. Additionally, collaboration between halal industry players and religious tourism managers needs to be enhanced to create quality tourism experiences that adhere to halal principles. This study concludes that such integration can be an effective strategy for improving Central Java's regional economy.
