Increasing Awareness In National Development Throught Study-Group Educa• tion For Rural Communities In Central Java
Abstract
The statement on freedom from illiteracy for members of society aged are 13 to 44 in Central Java was announced on August I". these ages are regarded as the most productive ages in human life for national development. It was, therefore, necessary to make a study in to the ways in which the study groups were developed to wahat extent this development effected the improvement of welfare, which in tum, increased their awareness in national development. The sampling tecnique used the multi-state sampling method which resulted in two sampling areas, vis. Temanggung and Kudus regencies. For each region we took two sub regencies, and from each of them we took. Three study groups : "A" package study group, business study groups and study-groups known as Diklusemas (curce study groups). The respondents were members of the study. The data collection methos were interviews observa• tions and document. Data analysis was done by using descriptive method. The results of this research were: (1) the kind of study-groups developed in Temanggung, and Kudus regensies were "A" package groups, business study groups and course study groups. The educational pattern used in the" A" package was "catch and maintain", while the other study groups were oriented to local community needs, (2) in Kudus the guidance of study groups which was meant to implant awareness in national development showed that the bussiness study groups were more succesful and better than that used in the other two groups, (3) in Temanggung, the guidance of the study groups to implant awareness in national development showed that the "A" package group was better than used in the other two groups.
