Abstract

Books play important  role in carrying out education in university. As a media of communication, books are useful in education process. That  is why  the existence of books affects the quality of the university  graduate. Books here means text books which are written  and used in university and arranged from the vision and mission of the university. The result of this research is expected to be beneficial for developing curriculum  which view JAIN as meeting pot/melting pol and the provision  of text books for IAIN is expected  to be compatible the development  oflslamic study either in western or eastern part of the world especially in Indonesia.  One which must be developed  by IAIN is Islamic contemporary  view, especially relating  to pluralism  issue,  democracy  and gender.  It's assummed because the text books in IAIN haven't touched the contemporary theme in Islamic study like  what  is widely discussed in non government organizations and other non university organizations.
